InsertSheet MetalUnbend

The Unbend command enables you to unbend a sheet metal component (with sharp edges, chamfers, fillets and bends). It is possible to unbend a generic solid also if no sheet metal features have been inserted yet.

Once you selected the Fixed Face/Edge (select an edge in the case the part has only cylindrical faces and no planar faces exist), depending on the option you select in the Type drop-down list you can choose whether to unbend all the bends or sharp edges in the sheet metal part ( Global) or few bends or sharp edges ( Local).

Expand Local Properties and select Normal side faces, if you need all the side faces of the objects to be created vertical.

With this approach all bends automatically added by the unbend operation will inherit sheet metal data from the solid ones (if any, otherwise from the general ones defined in the Sheet Metal category of the Entity Properties). To specify a different set of sheet metal data for each bend, you have to explicitly add a bend on the sharp edge or on the fillet using the Bend command.

While performing the Unbend operation if any interference is observed in the model, a warning will be displayed in the graphics area with the interfering regions getting highlighted.

Objects flattened using the Unbend command can be rebend using the Rebend command.

Corner reliefs are automatically added, if needed.
