InsertSolidSweepGeneric Solid

The Generic Solid command enables you to sweep an open or a closed profile along a drive curve. It is used to create a feature by blending multiple similar or dissimilar geometries together to get a free form shape. You can also sweep between sections with uneven number of vertices.

The two basic requirements to create a sweep feature are:

• Spine:
It is used as a drive curve to obtain blended solids. The drive curve shown in red in the image below is the path of transition of the cross-section solid feature and will be selected for the Spine selector. It is also called the Trajectory. The drive curve can be any static curve, a profile(2D or 3D), and edge of a solid or a surface.


• Boundaries/Cross-section profiles: It defines the shape of the feature along the drive curve. The entities in grey in the image below are cross-section profiles and will be selected for the Boundaries selector. The boundaries should be 2D Profiles.
