ModifyGlobal Shape ModelingTwist

The GSM Twist command enables you to twist entire shapes composed of solids, surfaces and other entities.

Once the objects and the twisting direction are selected (the latter is defined by a line, whose length also defines the portion of the selected objects to be actually twisted), handles will be displayed to enable you to interactively bend the selected objects. As you drag a handle, a dynamical preview will be displayed, enabling you to control the operation. Instead of using handles, you can type in the value of the twisting angle and of the axis of twist: the latter defines the portion of the set of selected objects which will actually be modified.

You can also set the continuity values and other constraints at the end points of the line defining the portion to be twisted.

Associativity
To retain links to the component surfaces, so that if you modify a component surface the solid will be modified accordingly, select the Associative Mode check box in the command selection list.

A specific mechanism for self intersection detection is also active. When a self intersection is detected, the program will display the surfaces delimiting the area within which self intersections occur: if the modified entities are inside that area, self intersections will occur; no self intersection will occur if the modified entities are outside that area.

A set of Quality Checks commands is also available.
