Creating a simple shaft extending to a selected face

Follow the steps given below to create a simple shaft extending from an initial face to a final face.

  1. Invoke the Shaft command; you are prompted to select the primary face. Click on the face on which you want to position the shaft. To reselect the face, click on Face in the selection list and select the face again.

  2. Under Type in the selection list, choose the method you want to use to indicate the center of the shaft.

  3. Position the center of the shaft. The values you must specify vary as follows depending on the method you chose to define the center of the shaft. See Defining a Point on a face for details.

  4. From the Extension drop-down list, choose Up to face.

  5. Select End Face in the selection list (if not already selected) and then click on the face. To reselect the face, click on End Face in the selection list and select the face again.

  6. In the Diameter mini-dialog, specify the diameter of the shaft, or drag the diameter handle.

  7. To manage situations in which the projection of the base profile of the shaft is not completely contained in the final face, the Extended Face check box is displayed. See Face Extension in Up to face Mode for details.

  8. Click or to confirm your selections and create the shaft. Click to discard your changes.
