Joining three contours along a drive through a sweep surface

In this task you will use the Global Sweep command to create a sweep surface by joining three contours along a drive curve.
Please note that you can accomplish this task by loading file "GlobalSweep02.e3".



The red line will be used as the drive curve. The three section groups are formed by the blue curves. As you can see the first two groups are made up of just one curve each, while the third contains three consecutive lines. As the three section groups lie on planes parallel to XY



a good result can be obtained by sweeping the section curves keeping the Y direction fixed along the motion.

1 Select the drive curve. Right-click and select Continue to end selection.


 
2 In the Sweep drop-down list, choose Curves. Select the first section curve.


 
3 Under Section Groups(2) in the selection list, Click on Curves 2. Then select the second curve:


 
4 Under Section Groups(3) in the selection list, Click on Curves 3. Then select the three consecutive lines:


 
5 Click the Preview button ( ) to assess the result you would obtain.


 
6 To remove the twist from the resulting surface, check the Invert 3 box.


 
7 Click or to confirm your selections and create the shape.



Click to discard your changes.
