Rules for creating a profile
The ThinkDesign environment is a parametric and feature-based environment, in which you can create solid models. The basic profile for solid features is a 2DProfile. To create a 2D Profile from any set of curves or straight lines you need to meet the following conditions:
- The profile must be drawn on the Work Plane. This happens by default when using the 2D Profile command. If the entities are drawn in the model mode, they should be co-planer to be converted into 2D Profile. Also, the WorkPlane should be at the profile plane.
- The profile can form an open or closed profile and may contain islands. In case of open profiles, Open solids will be generated. Make sure any entities made as reference should not be considered as part of the closed profile.
- Preferably, the profile should be fully constraint to create a feature.

You can create a 3D Profile from any set of straight lines and is not limited by the constrain of being coplanar. Hence, the lines can be in any orientation in the 3D space.
