ThinkDesign 2025.1 Release Notes
Many improvements have been made in version 2025.1. This document contains a list of brief descriptions of the new major features, improvements and enhancements.
New Assembly Functionalities and Improvements
ThinkDesign 2025.1 introduces a series of powerful enhancements to the Assembly functionalities.
- The New component command now automatically retains links to external entities.
- The X-Reference and Make X-Reference commands now allow you to unlink references to external entities, using clearer and more coherent messages that make the workflow easier.
-
The Solid Unlink command now provides consistent and stable behavior across all feature types.
The unlink functionality has been extended for previously unsupported entities and features.
- Management of dangling references in component creation has been improved for several events.
- Improved capabilities to automatically detect issues when importing legacy files and repair corrupted models from previous versions.
New Fillet Functionalities and Improvements
ThinkDesign 2025.1 introduces significant improvements to the Edge Fillet command.
-
Collisions between fillets and the sharp edges of the solid are handled more effectively.
A new collision propagation algorithm ensures continuous fillets across complex geometries.
- Reliability is improved for complex manufacturing geometries.
Full Hybrid Modeling
ThinkDesign 2025.1 introduces the concept of Hybrid Solids.
Hybrid Solids are solids where at least one face is a triangular mesh. ThinkDesign now fully supports homogeneous Hybrid Solids in which all faces are triangular meshes.
In standard Solids, the faces of a BRep (solid with boundary representation) are parameterized Surfaces. With Full Hybrid Modeling, ThinkDesign can now manage BReps where the faces can also be triangular meshes.
The following commands, previously available for standard Solids, can now be used in the same way with Hybrid Solids.
- Modeling commands:
- Make Solid, Break Solid, Invert Normals
- Transformations: Move/Copy, Mirror, Scale
- Boolean operations: Union, Intersect, Difference
- Properties and Analysis tools:
- Edit Properties
- Analysis such as Single Entity Info, Check Manifold, Check Normals, Solid Orientation, Entity Size, Mass Properties, etc.

Mesh from Solid command enhancement:
- The Local mode allows you to convert only specific faces of a solid to a mesh.
-
The Global mode introduces a new Join mesh option, enabling the creation of either a single mesh for the entire solid or individual meshes for each solid face.
The Make Solid command will create a Hybrid Solid with the equivalent topology of the original Solid when the Mesh from Solid command is used with the Global mode, but without the Join mesh option.
Data Exchange Functionalities and Improvements
