ToolsInfo
Entity Relations
The Entity Relations command enables you to retrieve information about the history of the selected entity, belonging to the Model Structure or to the Mating Structure in case of constraints. In addition to the information on the main entity/event, you can view the events that are possibly related to the selected entity. Among the related events, you can view the ones ensuring the existence of the selected entity (parents) and the ones of which the selected entity ensures the existence (children).
The command can be performed from the Info sub-menu in the context menus on the entity and on the event in the Model Structure or in the Mating Structure in case of constraints, including its root, and from ToolsInfo
Entity Relations. In this case, if no entity is selected, the program prompts to select it.
A dialog box is displayed, including the following information:
Type | Type of entity, such as solid, mating constraint, feature, profile, corresponding to the selected event in the Model Structure or in the Mating Structure
Name | Entity user name, if available
Show relations |
|
||||||
Parents | Events, related to the selected entity, that ensure its existence
Number of parent events | Number of 'parents' events related to the selected entity
Children | Events, related to the selected entity, that exist only if the selected entity exists
Number of child events | Number of 'children' events related to the selected entity |
In addition, you find the following buttons:
Zoom Entity | Enables you to zoom in the main entity |
Close | Closes the dialog box |
Analyze Selection | Enables you to analyze the entity relations of a different entity, selected in one of the list views |
Redefine Selection | Enables you to redefine the entity, selected in one of the list views if applicable |
The list views show the "parents" and "children" history events related to the one selected. They also show the different items, not strictly belonging to the Model Structure, such as annotations, with their ordinary icons.
When you select an event in the list views, the corresponding entity is highlighted on screen and marked by an asterisk in the Model Structure for visual feedback.
Note that, when the command is applied to a solid, you can view exclusively what outside the solid itself depends on entities inside the solid. For instance, you can't view features inside the solid, while, by applying the command to a feature, you can view the features coming before and after.
This implies that, when performing the command on a solid, you may view the same feature both as a parent and as a child.
Also note that, when you open an X-Reference component as a model and invoke the Entity Relations command from the root of the Model Structure, you can view the assembly/component the X-Reference component comes from as parent and, in the children list view, all the features within the X-Reference component which depend on the parent elements. This capability enables you to get some useful information when you manage X-Reference components on which some problems may arise because of missing parametric relationships with the entities they come from/are linked to. |
