Creating a simple shaft of a specified depth

Follow the steps given below to add a simple shaft of a specified depth to a solid.

  1. Invoke the Shaft command; you are prompted to select the primary face. Click on the face on which you want to add the shaft. To reselect the face, click on Face in the selection list and select the face again.

  2. Under Type in the selection list, choose the method you want to use to indicate the center of the shaft.

  3. Position the center of the shaft. Depending upon the method selected for the Type option, you have to specify additional values to define the shaft position; see Defining a Point on a face for details.

  4. From the Extension drop-down list, choose Blind.

  5. In the Diameter mini-dialog, specify the diameter of the shaft, or drag the diameter handle.

  6. In the Depth mini-dialog, specify the depth of the shaft, or drag the depth handle.

  7. For adding draft to the shaft, select the Angle check box and then in the corresponding mini-dialog box specify the draft angle, or drag the angle handle.

  8. Click or to confirm your selections and create the shaft. Click to discard your changes.
