Using customized Drawing Frames and Title Blocks from versions prior to 2008.1
Version 2008.1 of the think3 application has introduced a new management of the Drawing Frame and Title Block management. Since the inner format of the drawings used as Frames and Title Blocks did not change, you can keep using those your customized ones following a simple conversion procedure.
Follow these steps to convert your customized Title Blocks to comply with the new requirements:
- Open a Title Block. Your custom Title Blocks are drawings stored in the fmt\<Your_Language> subfolder of the folder specified in either the User configuration root folder or Installation root folder that you find in the System category of the thinkPLM Options.
- Move the geometry, if necessary, so that the lower left corner of the Title Block is in the Work Plane origin. If you fail to position the Title Block in the Work Plane origin, the program will not be able to dock it to the correct position in the Drawing Frame.
- Use the Save as Title Block command to store each Title Block for use by the application.
- You can copy and paste your old description for use with the new program version. You find the old description in the fmt\<Your_Language>\desc.lis file.
- Repeat for all your Title Blocks.
Follow these steps to convert your customized Drawing Frames to comply with the new requirements:
- Open a Drawing Frame. Your custom Drawing Frames are drawings stored in the fmt subfolder of the folder specified in either the User configuration root folder or Installation root folder that you find in the System category of the thinkPLM Options.
- Move the geometry, if necessary, so that the lower left corner of the Drawing Frame is in the Work Plane origin. If you fail to position the Drawing Frame in the Work Plane origin, the program will insert the Drawing Frame in a position different from the preview.
- Use the Save as Drawing Frame command to store each Drawing Frame for use by the application.
- You can copy and paste your old description for use with the new program version. You find the old description in the fmt\<Your_Language>\desc.lis file.
- Repeat for all your Drawing Frames.
Although you are enabled to copy the Title Blocks and Drawing Frames to their new folders without going through the Save as Drawing Frame and Save as Drawing Frame commands, by doing so you do not assign the descriptions. If no description is present, the program displays the file name in the drop-down lists of the Drawing Frame and Title Block, possibly making it harder for the user to select the correct item. |
