The Split Surface command enables you to split one or more surfaces along one of their isoparametric curves using one of the following methods, to be chosen in the
Type drop-down list:
- U Parameter
the surface will be split along the U isoparametric curve corresponding to a specified U value or point
- V Parameter
the surface will be split along the V isoparametric curve corresponding to a specified V value or point
- UV Parameter
the surface will be split contemporarily along the U and V isoparametric curves corresponding to specified U and V values. A handle is also available to move the cutting lines on the surface.
- Arc Joints
the surface will be split along the isoparametric curve through the selected arc joint. This method applies only to surfaces with arc joints: selection of surfaces with no arc joint is not enabled.
You can specify what to do with the original surfaces. In the Base Entities drop-down list, select one of the following:
-
Modify to apply the changes to the original surfaces.
-
Hide to hide the original surfaces, though keeping them in the model.
-
Keep to keep the original surfaces, leaving them visible.
The resulting surfaces will be of the same type as the original one, no matter which Type you used to obtain them.
