Working with Markups

Basic sketch detailing

You can add some basic sketches as markup to the drawing files open inside the think3 application. The sketch entities can be lines, rectangles, circles, or arcs depending upon the requirement. The Markup commands used to apply markup sketches are:

Note that the 2D design data (drawing files) normally comes in as native think3 *.e2 files or DXF formats.

Adding annotation markups

Annotations, in their simplest form, are text labels tied to the model with a leader. This way the designer can communicate the design intent faster and effectively. However, the real power of annotation comes when you attach external documents such as word documents, Spreadsheets, images, or even an URL to your annotation. The Annotation Markup command is used to apply annotations as markups.

Attaching label markups

The Label Markup command enables you to insert a label as the markup. These are useful when the markup need not be very elaborate like an annotation, instead a simple text would suffice. Here, you cannot attach any external documents. They are just text labels tied to the drawing with a leader line.

Managing the Markups

Any markups that you add will appear on the Visual Bookmarks tab, as a collapsible list. To delete individual markups, right-click on the required markup in this list and select Delete from the context menu. To delete all the markups added to the document, right-click on the root of the collapsible list and select Delete from the context menu.

Since the markups appear on the Visual Bookmarks tab, they act as visual bookmarks as well. For example, double-clicking on any markup listed in the list results in activating the view where that markup was created. Alternatively, you can right-click on the markup and select Activate from the context menu. To refresh the list, you can select the Reload Tree context menu option.

Context menu options for managing markups

Various context menus are displayed by right-clicking on the Visual Bookmarks panel. The content of the context menu will vary depending upon where you clicked to invoke it.

Note that the annotation markups will also be displayed separately in the Annotations tab. Here you can right-click on any annotation and select Hide from the context menu to temporarily hide the annotation. Also you can use the Modify Entity context menu option to redefine the applied annotation. The hidden annotations can be made visible by right-clicking on the annotation in the collapsible list and selecting Unhide from the context menu. Other context menu options on the Annotations panel can also be used for managing the annotation markups.

The Markup Workflow section details the workflow that should be followed for creating and using the markups.
