InsertMarkupAnnotation

The Annotation Markup command enables you to insert a markup annotation on a model. The annotation is linked to an entity you select. See the An introduction to Markups document for an overview on markup annotations.

This software treats the markup annotations and normal annotations (Insert Annotation) differently, as described in the Markup Entities versus Normal Entities section. However, the method of applying both the commands is the same. Refer to the documentation of the Annotation command for further information on normal annotations.

Note

Though this software allows you to attach external files such as Word files, Spreadsheets and so on as annotation markups, for their proper visualization it is required that both the *.mkp file and the attached external file be in the same file system. Otherwise, when you send the *.mkp file to the recipient, it will not be possible to view the attachment correctly.

It is recommended to always refer the external files as a URL. For example, if all the company specification documents are in a central repository, then refer the files in this location in the annotation markup. This way, the same file will be received by the recipients, provided they are also able to access the same network.

Once you have set the annotation, you can drag and position it. However, you cannot change the reference point, the text entered for the annotation, or the file attached for the annotation. Any annotation markup that you add will appear on the Visual Bookmarks tab, as an entry on a collapsible list. In order to delete an annotation markup, delete its entry from this list by right-clicking on it and selecting Delete from the context menu.

In addition to the entries in the Visual Bookmarks tab, the annotation markups will also be listed on its own Annotations tab. The Managing the Markups section describes the actions that you can perform on the annotation markups inside both these tabs.
