The new Model Quality command enables you to check the quality of a model by searching for a number of issues that may be present in it which can be of topological nature, specific issues on curves, surfaces and points or also geometric problems.
After starting the command:
- Select the Check Parameters node in the selection list. The Check Parameters dialog box is displayed. This action is necessary only when you want to change the parameters for which the warnings are to be displayed.
- In the Select one or more defects to check: area, select the type of issues the command must detect by selecting the corresponding check box (Not Manifold, Topological, On Curves, On Surfaces, and Geometric). For example, if you select the Topological check box, topological issues will be searched for; if you select the Geometric check box too, also geometric issues will be searched for.
In case you need to find all type of issues you can use the All button to select all the check boxes under Select one or more defects to check: area. Select the Severe button from the Check Parameters dialog box in order to find only important and severe issues.
- Select the entities to be verified for the Entities selector; right-click and select Continue to end the selection. In order to select the whole model for verification, select the Whole Model option from the context menu which gets display by right-clicking on the Entities selector.
- Select the Check Model Quality (
) button on top of the selection list after the selection is completed. The program starts the verification process, which might take some time to complete depending upon the complexity of the model.
After the verification over, the Total Warnings: item gets displayed in the selection list, indicating the total number of issues found in the selected entities, based on the parameters you have selected in the Check Parameters dialog box.
- In the Warning Category drop-down list, select the type of issues among the ones that you have restricted the detection to in the above steps to be displayed in the model.
All warnings (<>) |
|
To display all issues found. |
Not Manifold |
|
To display only issues related to non-manifold solid. |
Topological (<>) |
|
To display only topological issues. |
On surfaces (<>) |
|
To display only issues related to surfaces. |
On curves (<>) |
|
To display only issues related to curves. |
Geometric (<>) |
|
To display only geometric issues. |
On points (<>) |
|
To display only issues related to points. |
- For each selected warning category there is a list of possible warning types which gets displayed in the Warning Type drop-down list. You can select the type of issue to be highlighted from this drop-down list. For each category, the number of the warnings found for it is displayed in the parenthesis.
- For each selected warning type, an issue list will be displayed and you will be enabled to navigate forward and backward among the listed issues using the following arrows:
 |
Set next issue as the current one. |
 |
Set the last issue as the current one. |
 |
Set previous issue as the current one. |
 |
Set the first issue as the current one. |
- Once a warning is selected, the issue will be highlighted over the model. Also, a graphical marker (arrow mark) is displayed to highlight its location. You toggle the Show All Defects (
) button to show/hide the defects in the solid.
- The two options under the More Options are applicable for the entities issue list discussed in above step. The two options are as following:
- Automatic Zoom: Enables you to zoom the model to view the current issue in detail.
- When the check box is selected, the zone of the model where the current issue has been detected is automatically zoomed so as to fit the current view.
- When the check box is cleared, no zoom is performed.
- Set Target Position: Enables you to move the target point to the center of the zone of the model where the current issue has been detected.
- When the box is selected, the target point is moved to the center of the zone of the model where the current issue has been detected.
- When the box is cleared, the target point is not moved.
Please note that whenever a file of other format is loaded, it is possible to choose whether to automatically run the Model Quality command on the geometry of the opened document.
