The thinkteam naming rule applies also to thinkparts Index and Catalog entity types.
Prerequisite to this procedure is the availability of a thinkparts and thinkPLM licence. You need to login thinkPLM as administrator.
The goal of this job is to show the steps required to create a naming rule to automatically assign a name to thinkparts catalogs and indexes.
Since when you execute the steps below you change your thinkPLM database structure, you may want to make a backup of it or work on a scratch copy. |
1 | Start the Data Structure Manager command and access the Type Flags command. |
2 | Select the Index entity type in the left pane and check the To be edited and To be selected check boxes, then click Save. Repeat for the Catalog entity type. By doing this, you are making the two entity types editable with the Data Structure Manager command. Close the Type Flags dialog box when done. |
3 | Expand the Revisable Entity entry in the Data Structure Manager left pane and select the Catalog entity type. You will repeat the next steps for the Index entity type later. |
4 | Click the Edit Type command and check the Naming rule checkbox to enable the naming rule customization. |
5 | Edit the naming rule according with your needs; for example, enter CAT as Prefix, set the Number of digits field to 3 and the Start value field to 1, so that the first catalog name will be generated as CAT001. |
6 | Close the wizard when you are done by clicking Finish. |
7 | Repeat the last steps for the Index entity type. |
8 | Check that everything works as expected by starting the Catalog Manager. |
9 | Click the New Catalog command and then click the ... button next to the Name field and check that the name is generated according with the naming rule defined. |
10 | Repeat the previous step using New Index. |
11 | Before ending the test, reset the To be edited and To be selected flags for both entity types, in order to avoid modifying the properties of these types by mistake. |
