Conversion is performed according to the current values of the parameters of the STEP Conversion Options dialog box opened by selecting Options.
Specific options are available to control the conversion of assemblies, sub-assemblies and components (see also the Assembly conversion modes area in the STEP Conversion Options.
When converting an assembly, information about hierarchy is normally ignored. You can read and convert also the hierarchy information thus converting each "leaf" component to a separate X-Reference component by selecting the Keep hierarchy check box.
Once the said box is selected, several options are available. You can:
Create a report file containing the information about the assembly hierarchy:
Parent-child relations
Unit of measure
Transformation matrix associated with each child
Component name.
Select the Print report option to obtain the report file.
Assign components the same name they had in the system where the model was created (rather than the name of corresponding ".e3" file). To do so, select the Keep original names option.
Layers are converted as per map table defined in the General-Layers category of the STEP Conversion Options. If no mapping is defined, the layer name is preserved as it is.
General warning on conversion of STEP models tothink3
To know exactly which STEP entities are converted to think3 and, if they are, which the corresponding think3 entities are, see the conversion table.
