ThinkDesign 2024.1, 2024.1.SP1 and 2024.1.SP2 Release Notes

Many improvements have been made in version 2024.1. This document contains a list of short descriptions for each new feature, improvement and enhancement.

Ribbon User Interface

ThinkDesign 2024.1 introduces new Ribbon-based User Interface.

ThinkDesign 2024.1 allows users to utilize the new Ribbon-based interface or to continue using the Menus and Toolbars interface present in the previous versions.
When starting the application for the first time, or even at a later time, users can decide to make a switch between the two types of user interface.
The new Ribbon-based interface allows for more focus and space for the graphics area, fewer UI objects present on the interface at any given time and performance improvements when moving between 2D and 3D windows.

2D Graphics Layer

ThinkDesign 2024.1 improves the performance of 2D Graphics by optimized management of the hardware (GPU) on the computer's graphics card.
This results in a 10-fold or more improvement in handling large 2D drawings in all graphics operations such as highlights, zooming, panning and more.

Intersection between Mesh and Surface, Mesh and Mesh

Intersect Curve command (Insert ⇨ Curve ⇨ Intersect)
Until the previous release, the command allowed the user to compute intersections between surfaces and create the intersecting curves.
With ThinkDesign 2024.1, Intersect Curve has been significantly enhanced to enable the selection of meshes for intersecting surfaces with meshes and meshes with meshes.

Thickness Analysis

Thickness Analysis command (Tools ⇨ Info ⇨ Analysis ⇨ Thickness Analysis)
With the new Thickness Analysis command, ThinkDesign 2024.1 introduces an important tool for inspecting wall thickness on solids or meshes.
This analysis provides a way to check if the different parts of the model are fairly thick to fit the requirements of a 3D printing and post-production steps.
The results are provided in the form of a color map and a graph of the thickness values.

ANSYS Integration

With ThinkDesign 2024.1, we introduce a live-link integration, updated with the release of Ansys Workbench, v.2023 R1/R2, v.2024 R1 and v.2024 R2 (2024.1.SP1).

The plug-in for the integration is available with all the bundles of ThinkDesign.
