Creating an Insert and a slot by selecting a Predefined solid

In the following tutorial you will create a slot and slide core in the core by selecting a predefined solid using the Split Mold Volume command. Open the volume_split.e3 file available in the Samples/mold folder present at the installation location and follow the steps given below.

  1. Start the Linear Solid command and select the profile as shown in the image below.



  2. Under More Options, select Double depth from the Extension drop-down list.

  3. Enter 50 and 25 in the Depth 1 and Depth2 mini-dialog boxes, respectively.

  4. Click or to confirm your selections and create the predefined solid as shown in the image below:



  5. Start the Split Mold Volume command and select the core for the Part selector.

  6. From the Cut-off Insert drop-down list select By solid. Then select the solid as shown in the image below.



  7. Under More Options, select Cut and slot in the Type drop-down list.

  8. Click or to confirm your selections. The image below shows the slot created in the core on hiding the slide core.



  9. The slide core (created as an X-Reference component) is shown in the image below on hiding the core.
