The Sew Mesh command enables you to sew a triangular open mesh to close gaps and cracks.
-
Select the mesh you would like to sew.
Once you have made the selection, the preview is automatically displayed.
-
A minidialog shows the minimum sew distance and its location corresponds to the next point where the mesh will be sewed. It helps to set correctly the Sew Tolerance.
Then enter the tolerance value in the Sew Tolerance edit box.
Note that the gaps can be removed progressively by increasing the tolerance little by little. In this way, you control interactively the process with the Sew here () button.
The button Fit view to current defect () allows to view instantly where is the minimum sew distance.
Or, by setting the appropriate sew tolerance (big enough to remove gaps but not too big to avoid collapsing boundary edges) the mesh can be sewed in one shot by selecting the Preview () button.
If the sew tolerance value is too big that boundary edges could collapse, a warning is displayed.
-
You can specify what to do with the original mesh. In the Base Entities drop-down list, select one of the following:
-
Modify to apply the changes to the original mesh.
-
Hide to hide the original mesh, though keeping it in the model.
-
Keep to keep the original mesh, leaving it visible.
