Unlink Model References
The Unlink Model References command enables you to unlink one or more views from the model they were obtained from, thus removing any references to that model and transforming the views into non-shared groups. A message is displayed to inform the user about references to the model getting lost, as any changes that are made to the model will no more be reflected to the views that have become simple groups.
After starting Unlink Model References command, proceed as follows.
1 | Select the view or the set of views to be unlinked from the model |
2 |
A message is displayed to inform you that all references to the model will be removed (if you subsequently modify the model, the view you converted into a group will not be updated to reflect those changes).
If you select the Don't prompt this warning again check box, the message won't be displayed anymore when you use the Unlink Model References command and all the references to the model will be lost without informing you. The view is converted into a standard group. Notice that its icon in the Drawing Structure has changed. ![]() If you select a main view and some but not all its derived views, a message is displayed informing you that the selected main view will not be unlinked (while the selected derived views will). |
There is an option, which allows to rearrange the 2D entities of the unlinked drawing view into groups and subgroups for representing 3D components hierarchy of the associated model.
To activate this option select the Create components as groups check box in the
Unlink model references area of the
Drawing category in the
System Options
dialog box.
