The Sampling for Recapping command enables you to create some sampling points over a set of surfaces or faces that needs to be capped later on. The created points can be used as reference while performing the capping operation.
After starting the command, you need to select the surface for the Surfaces selector that will be the reference to generate the points.
You have the option to define the mode that will be used for point generation. Make the required selection from the Sampling Mode drop-down list.
- UV: The point distribution is across the U and V directions of the surface. The amount of points to be generated can be controlled by specifying the required value in the Density edit box.
- Grid: The point distribution is across a grid. The spacing between the grid lines can be specified in the Step edit box.
- Tessellation: The point distribution is based on the surface tessellation factor as per the specified Tolerance value.
- Planes: The point distribution is made over two directions which can be defined by using the First Direction and Second Direction drop-down lists. Refer to the How to Define an Axis or a Line document for details.
The density of points in each direction is to be specified in the First Step and Second Step edit boxes, respectively.
- Radial: The point distributions is made radially about a defined Axis. The number of radials is to be specified in the No. of planes edit box. Refer to the How to Define an Axis or a Line document for details. Note that for each plane, two radials will originate from the axis in mutually opposite direction.
The density of points across the radials is controlled by the entering the required value in the Step on axis box.
You can define an exclusion zone where the points need not be generated. To do so, use the Exclusion Mode drop-down list.
- None: There will be no exclusion zone
- All boundaries: The exclusion zone will be around the surface boundaries up to a distance entered in the Radius edit box.
- Select: The exclusion zone will be around the curve selected for the Curves selector up to a distance entered in the Radius edit box.
